# Veto

> Stripe for AI agents. Veto is agentic-checkout infrastructure that lets any business sell to autonomous AI agents and get paid directly to its own wallet — non-custodial, so Veto never holds funds. Open to all agents; rail-agnostic (x402 / USDC on Base today). At merchants.veto-ai.com.

Veto turns any catalog into a checkout that AI agents can discover and buy from. A merchant publishes a signed `agentic-checkout.json` manifest; an agent discovers it, presents a checkout (with an optional signed mandate + intent), Veto verifies authorization, reputation, and screening and runs the merchant's acceptance policy, returns a signed receipt, and the agent settles on-chain straight to the merchant's wallet. Veto governs; the rail executes.

## For AI agents

- Veto is **open to all agents** — you do not need a Veto account to buy. A Veto mandate is an optional fast-lane (mandate types are polymorphic: `veto` / `ap2` / `acp` / `none`).
- **Discover** a merchant's storefront at its `/.well-known/agentic-checkout.json` manifest, then present a checkout. Veto verifies the request and runs the merchant's acceptance policy.
- **Settlement** is rail-agnostic: x402 / USDC on Base is live today (real settlement proven); other rails (MPP via Tempo/Stripe) are additive. Funds go directly to the merchant's wallet.
- **Receipts** are signed (Ed25519) and verifiable offline by anyone — every accepted sale ships with one.
